Chewing the Facts

The brief:

Shape hundreds of academic research papers, 52 interviews, vox pops, archival material, and b-roll into a nuanced, tightly edited, audio-rich script

Client: Sasha Borissenko - Boriss & Co.

"Filled to the gills with ideas, Teresa drove the sound design and production of Chewing the Facts, offering amazing ideas around composition, archival material, and marketing at the drop of a hat. She is not only an incredible wordsmith, producer, editor, and voice coach, but she’s also a fantastic talent, having completed several voice reenactments that varied in dialect, tone, and accent.
On a personal level, while time was limited and the process was sometimes overwhelming, Teresa’s supportive and positive attitude meant any hurdles were manageable and quickly resolved. Despite me having limited radio experience, Teresa managed to ease any of my feelings of inadequacy or nerves, and she had an impressive ability to bring out the best of my voice in minutes.
Ultimately, working with such a passionate, kind, and highly intelligent journalist and producer was a joy and privilege, and I strongly recommend her skills, abilities, and professionalism. Chewing the Facts could not have been possible without her."

“Teresa is a brilliantly talented executive producer and hype-master extraordinaire!”

Inside the Bubble

The brief:

Transform 25 oral histories, recorded over the 5 weeks of lockdown, into a 5 episode podcast series

Client: Dr Emma Jean Kelly - Audio Visual Historian for Manatū Taonga The Ministry for Culture & Heritage

“After collecting a whole lot of community oral history recordings during Covid-19 national lockdown in 2020, our team felt excited by the range of fascinating content, and utterly flummoxed as to what to do with it. Enter Connect Content’s Teresa Cowie, who spent an hour listening to us tell her somewhat incoherently what we wanted to achieve, and then went off and created a plan which culminated in a podcasts series reflecting on life in lockdown in Aotearoa 2020. She then got it commissioned for inclusion on RNZs radio and web platforms - bonus!
We’ve had such good feedback on the series, and a lot of interest in how we managed to create such a professional project during a pandemic crisis – and I have to say: ‘it was all Teresa’. With cunning diplomacy Teresa voice-coached this grumpy and reluctant academic so she could narrate the series, worked out the threads which joined 25 human experiences into a coherent story, and created a tone which carried the weight of a difficult time with the right balance of gravitas and humour.”
